XAMAM opened its doors to the public in the summer of 2002 at 35 Chalidon Street. The shop, located in the remarkable domed rooms of a stunning late 17th century Ottoman bathhouse, is in the centre of the tourist district of the old city of Chania. The building, with its eleven domes, gives the shop its name XAMAM, which means Turkish bath and combines the unique aesthetics of the building with the creations of renowned fashion designers available within.
Inspired by the 21st century blossoming of young Greek designers, Garofalaki family gradually turned their business into a boutique devoted exclusively to clothes designed and produced in Greece.
The business’s motto, “philosophy to wear”, embodies the timeless nature of the designs and the attention given to each customer to create for them an intergrated and individual style or “look”.
Partnerships with new Greek designers are added to the business steadily but thoughtfully. Designers are carefully vetted according to the quality and unique character of their clothing and accessories, and especially their versatility. Natural materials — cotton, silk, linen, wool, leather — are preferred and used for most items sold in the store.
At XAMAM, our professional and highly trained staff serves thousands of visitors every year from all over the world, offering not only unique fashions and quality clothing, but personal stylist services too. The result for the visitor is an utterly unique fashion and service experience.
Our long term and trusting relationships with customers and design partners, have resulted in XAMAM’s outstanding success in a highly competitive market.
